Welcome to my website. I am a classically trained artist dedicated to study and revival of Old Masters' drawing and painting methods.
I admire quiet art of great poetic beauty expressed through mastery of technique, and believe that a great work of art should be able to reach a viewer's heart and mind without the help of art critics.

If you would like to hear my news and receive invitations to future exhibitions, please leave your details here.

Thank you for your interest,
Svetlana Cameron

April 2012: Portrait of former Chief Minister Tony Brown as Speaker Unveiled

The portrait of a former Speaker of the House of Keys Tony Brown was unveiled in the Legisaltive Building on 24 April 2012. Hosted by the current Speaker Steve Rodan, the unveiling ceremony was attended by Madame President, Members of Tynwald, Mr Brown's family, guests of the artist, and the media.

The portrait depicts Mr Brown in the Speaker's ceremonial robe and wig against the green background - the colour of the House of Keys. The volumes from the Tynwald library show the most significant years in the sitter's career: 1981 when Tony Brown was elected MHK for the first time, 2001 when he became Speaker, and 2011 when he retired from politics.

Commissioned by the office of the Clerk of Tynwald in accordance with the Tynwald tradition, the portrait has now taken its place in the House of Keys Chamber as part of the permanent collection of the Isle of Man Parliament.

October 2011: Former Speaker's Portrait Unveiled in the Isle of Man Parliament

An official portrait of the Speaker wearing ceremonial wig and robe with gold thread embroidery, set against red background.Svetlana Cameron has unveiled the official portrait of a former speaker of the House of Keys David Cannan. The unveiling ceremony took place on 25 October in the Legislative Building and was hosted by Mr. Cannan who was joined by members of his family together with the Speaker of the House of Keys Hon Steve Rodan MHK, members of Tynwald, senior officers and guests of the artist. The portrait has now joined the gallery of Speakers' portraits in the House of Keys, the lower chamber of the Parliament.

The project took 2.5 months to complete and required a great deal of research during which the artist studied the portraits of other Speakers, visited the Tynwald library and the Manx Museum to obtain reference materials,  and learnt a great deal about history of Tynwald and its traditions.

Mr. Cannan is portrayed wearing the Speaker's ceremonial wig and robe, which is black with gold thread embroidery and has the Three Legs of Man shield depicted on the shoulders. The books from the Tynwald library - Manx Law Reports and the Statutes of the Isle of Man - were included at the sitter's request. The artist also chose to include a section of the so-called Speed's Map, which was published by the cartographer John Speed in 1605 and is considered to be one of the most important maps of the Isle of Man.

Members of the public can view the portrait by joining a guided tour of the Legislative Chambers. For more information go to http://www.tynwald.org.im/
