Welcome
I am a classically trained artist dedicated to the revival of realist tradition.
I admire quiet art of great poetic beauty expressed through mastery of technique, and believe that a good work of art is the one that reaches your heart and mind without the help of art critics.

October 2011: Svetlana Cameron unveils official portrait in the Isle of Man Parliament
Svetlana Cameron has unveiled the official portrait of a former speaker of the House of Keys David Cannan. The unveiling ceremony took place on 25 October in the Legislative Building and was hosted by Mr. Cannan who was joined by members of his family together with the Speaker of the House of Keys Hon Steve Rodan MHK, members of Tynwald, senior officers and guests of the artist. The portrait has now joined the gallery of Speakers' portraits in the House of Keys, the lower chamber of the Parliament.
The project took 2.5 months to complete and required a great deal of research during which the artist studied the portraits of other Speakers, visited the Tynwald library and the Manx Museum to obtain reference materials, and learnt a great deal about history of Tynwald and its traditions.
Mr. Cannan is portrayed wearing the Speaker's ceremonial wig and robe, which is black with gold thread embroidery and has the Three Legs of Man shield depicted on the shoulders. The books from the Tynwald library - Manx Law Reports and the Statutes of the Isle of Man - were included at the sitter's request. The artist also chose to include a section of the so-called Speed's Map, which was published by the cartographer John Speed in 1605 and is considered to be one of the most important maps of the Isle of Man.

Members of the public can view the portrait by joining a guided tour of the Legislative Chambers. For more information go to http://www.tynwald.org.im/

"The Morning Light" - a song by Christine Collister inspired by Svetlana's artwork
A renowned singer/songwriter Christine Collister has written a new series of songs inspired by works created by Manx and Isle of Man-resident artists. To her great delight Svetlana Cameron discovered that the first song in the album - "The Morning Light" - had been inspired by her drawing with the same title. The visitors to Svetlana's "Face to Face" exhibition in May 2011 had a unique opportunity to hear the song and view the original artwork at the same time. You can listen to the song by clicking the "Play" button below. To learn more about Christine Collister go to http://www.christinecollister.com/
